The kitchen staff is very conscientious, when they're not cooking delicious meals for the students you can find them keeping the kitchen in tip top shape. Here Dee Curry is doing some deep cleaning.
The Tri-M, Modern Music Masters, Riley County Chapter 4602 inducted 11 new members on Thursday, September 19th. New Members are: Ryan Pierce, BreAnn Miesern, Ryan McClure, Camden Foltz, Hailey Sharp, Kaden Williams, Brandon Moots, Ashlee Wilkinson, Jessica Mensch, Clara Liseli, and Samantha Melson. Returning members are: Peyton Smith, Karah Barker, Lily Lagerman, Macy Sabo, Olivia Headley, Garrett Harmison, Hutton Collins, and Hunter Wise.
The Riley County Falcon Band attended the Kansas State Fair on Wednesday, September 11th to perform in the parade competition and earned a 1/Superior Rating.

On Tuesday, September 17, the RCHS chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) inducted 20 senior and junior students as NHS members for the 2019-20 school year. Charlie Peterson was recognized at our football game Friday night for his service on our chain gang. Charlie is a 1967 graduate of RCHS and is working his 50th year as a chain gang member! Thank you for all of your service Charlie!
A new light has been installed on the maintenance shed, bringing more visibility and safety to the visiting teams that come to Riley County.
Art Club sponsored pinwheels for peace to support International Day of Peace. Thanks to all students and staff who supported this endeavor.

Our 4th grade science classes were challenged to build a bridge that will hold the most weight. They are using the engineering design process to build their bridges out of popsicle sticks and glue. Building is underway and bridges will be tested next Thursday.

Flint Hills Volunteer Center is sponsoring an essay contest in honor of the Veterans Day Parade. 3 winners will be selected to receive a cash award (1st: $150, 2nd: $100, 3rd: $50). Essays are due October 31 by 4:00 pm. See attachment for more information or call (785) 776-7787!
If you are wanting more information on the bond for USD 378 you can visit the district office, the grade school, or the high school. Located at the entrance of each building is a large placard with details of the projects listed in the bond issue.
USD 378 purchased a new bus to replace bus 11. It is a 65 passenger bus. This bus has a V-8 gasoline engine which leads to far fewer emission issues than a Diesel engine.
