October was bus evacuation drill month. All bus riders practice proper bus evacuation. Drivers review emergency procedures with student passengers and how to open the bus door if the driver can not.
Congratulations to October’s Student of the Month, Brooks Redden! Brooks, 12th Grade, moved here from Texas and has been a great addition to our school. He has earned a 3.97 Cumulative GPA and is currently a member of our Football team, NHS, SADD, FCA and plans to participate in track in the Spring.
Ms. Hopson – “Brooks came in at the beginning of the year with an outstanding attitude and work ethic. It is incredibly difficult to move to a new school your senior year of high school especially when the school is as small as Riley County and everybody already knows everyone else. However, I think that Brooks has adjusted incredibly well and fits in well to our school. He gives his absolute best in class and is incredibly respectful to both students and teachers. He is the first one to volunteer to answer questions in class and is very clearly actively engaged at all times. He serves as an outstanding role model to everyone around him and is just an all-around great person.”
Congratulations and Go Falcons!
Why did the chicken cross the road? To help students walk across safely to school. Travis Schardein, Maintenance Director, joins in on the fun for school dress up day on October 29th.
Congratulations to Ms. Perry on earning our student selected Staff of the Quarter! Ashley is in her 1st year of teaching after graduating from KSU. She teaches 9-12 Choir & Music Theatre Workshop. When not at school, she continues in her 3rd year with Flint Hills Childrens Choir. She has enjoyed building relationships with the students at RCHS through Field Trips, Choir Concert, and Musical Theatre Workshop. Go Falcons!
Sportsmanship is sometimes overlooked compared to results. Hailey Sharp qualified for State Cross Country after Regionals last weekend. A week prior to that, she finished 3rd at MEL Cross Country. Ann Foster of Rossville noticed Hailey stayed in the Chute & fist bumped ALL runners after her, while also hugging the last runner through. Ann caught it on video an passed it along to us! #RiCoProud #MELProud
