Riley County was recently notified by the Kansas Department of Education and the Kansas State Board of Education that the district was awarded a Bronze Star for the category of Academically Prepared for Postsecondary through the Kansans Can Star Awards Program.
The goal of the Kansans Can program is to encourage and recognize schools in Kansas who are actively working towards improvement based on the Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (KESA) model. The Star Recognition program recognizes district success in the outcome measures, which serve as a roadmap to help Kansas reach its educational vision.
Riley County was 1 of only 18 districts that received a bronze award or higher (14 bronze, 4 silver, 0 gold) in Academically Prepared for Postsecondary (out of 286 qualified districts). This is a great accomplishment considering the state board just increased the criteria to qualify for this recognition! Congratulations goes out to all of our teachers, staff, and students for the work they put in to achieve this award!
